TOM is People
We are not a team in the traditional sense of the word, which evokes uniforms and uniformity. We embrace a mosaic made up of individual points of view and strong opinions. Every idea is on the table and all paths are considered, because you, your project and your family are unique and the best results are custom fitted to authentic path forward. Collaboration is vital, but so is debate. Experience has taught us that a room filled with like opinions does not solve problems.
TOM is Irreverent
Large-scale design projects can be stressful, expensive and time consuming. We don’t see any value in pretending that isn’t the case, which is why we insist on making even the most painful aspects of the job fun. Everything can be fixed, any problem can be solved, and we won’t leave until it is. We know we’re good at what we do, and if you’ve hired us, you know it too.
TOM is Collaborative
Want to meet the people who make the stuff you’ve chosen? We encourage that. Our passion for collaboration doesn’t begin and end inside the design studio. TOM relies on a huge network of artisans, skilled trades, makers and suppliers. Decades spent learning from and spending time with them has strengthened our ties to the world of design and also provided a vast network of talent and skills we are excited to share with you. They are a vital part of our community.
TOM is Present
Integrity is useless without strength. If you’ve hired us, you have our full attention. TOM is not an old-school firm with principals and subordinates. We share responsibility and skill. We are at the site visits, we’re there for the milestones and when it’s time to execute your final installation, we have all boots on the ground. We are a community of support for you as well as for each other.
TOM is Thorough
TOM is at your service. We exist to help build and then meticulously execute your vision. This means that you’ll definitely know when the job is done. The towels will be laundered and folded on the rack, the bed sheets will be ironed and tucked in, and the flowers will be thoughtfully placed throughout the house. When we leave, we’re not gone for good. Follow-up and maintenance is an important aspect of every project. We stand behind the work and are committed to a broad level of client service, so if any adjustments are needed, we’re here. Ultimately, we hope not to hear from you until you’re ready for your next project. That’s the truest indication we’ve completed the job.

When you hire TOM to participate in what is ultimately a very intimate relationship (we’re in your bathroom!) we think you should know what we stand for. We believe in equality and integrity.
