WEST END

PHOTOGRAPHY BY: PATRICK BILLER

Location: Bloor West, Toronto, Canada.

Kate’s version of livable luxury leaves nothing out, but never overwhelms with more than is needed or desired. The result is a home with character, a point of view and a purpose that doesn’t fall back on old tropes. A natural palette of water, sand, stone and cloudy white guides the eye, but the effect is anything but neutral. This is truly a modern mix made from mellow materials like warm woods, matte metals and luxe linen. The principal bedroom is as visually calming as it is physically inviting. This is a textural layered approach, in solid tones and just a whisper of wavy movement in pattern that doesn’t shout.

Coffered ceilings and criss-crossed metal table legs provide perfect balance for the curved crystal ball of light in the dining room, glimpsed from nearly all areas of the main floor; a bold gesture rendered in cut glass. Curved chairs for conversation in the dining room’s adjacent lounge are grounded by a graphically iridescent sideboard, providing a relaxing retreat. This home has high style that is never high-strung, making it a true reflection of its occupants, as well as their designer.
